Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Aleksandr Kisliakov ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you visit our website or use the Smoozy software ("Software").
1. Information we collect
We believe in minimizing data collection. We only collect the information absolutely necessary to provide you with the Software and related services.
Information collected via Lemon Squeezy (Merchant of Record):
When you purchase the Software, your payment and transaction is processed securely by our authorized Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy. We do not collect or store your credit card details or billing address.
We receive the following minimal information from Lemon Squeezy to generate and manage your software license:
- Your Name
- Your Email Address
- Purchase/Order details (to verify your license)
Information collected by the Software (Smoozy):
The Smoozy desktop application is designed to be privacy-first.
- No telemetry: The Software does NOT collect, track, or transmit any usage data, analytics, crash reports, or personal files to us.
- License checks: The Software periodically connects to Lemon Squeezy's servers to validate your license. During activation and validation, it transmits your license key and the computer's hostname (to identify the device in your purchase dashboard).
- Hardware fingerprinting: To enforce device limits and prevent unauthorized license sharing, the Software generates a unique hardware fingerprint derived from your hardware properties (such as your OS/device identifiers, CPU, and GPU models). For purchased licenses, this anonymized fingerprint is hashed and stored locally only. Our licensing provider (Lemon Squeezy) receives only your license key and computer's hostname; they do not receive this fingerprint.
- Free trial: If you use the Free Trial version, the Software sends the anonymized hardware fingerprint to our trial server to track the 7-day evaluation period and prevent trial abuse. No personal data is transmitted.
- Update checks: The Software routinely connects to GitHub to check for and download new application updates. This request transmits the current version of the Software you are running and your OS platform.
- Third-Party Integrations: The Software may occasionally connect to third-party services (such as blender.org) to check for software versions required for the Software's operation. No personal data is transmitted during these checks.
2. How we use your information
We use the minimal information we collect (your email and name) solely for:
- Issuing and managing your Software license keys.
- Sending you important transactional emails (e.g., purchase receipts or critical security updates).
- Providing customer support if you contact us.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third parties.
3. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate our business:
- Lemon Squeezy: Acts as our Merchant of Record and payment processor. Their use of your personal information is governed by their own Privacy Policy.
- GitHub and Cloudflare: Host and deploy our website. Standard web access logs (like IP addresses) may be temporarily collected for security and performance monitoring in accordance with their respective privacy policies.
- Cloudflare Workers: Hosts our Free Trial API. It processes the anonymized hardware fingerprint to manage trial limits, but does not store personal data.
- GitHub: Hosts our application infrastructure for delivering auto-updates. Basic network requests (including your IP address) are transmitted to GitHub when checking for updates.
